If you're reading this, you've doubtless noticed that the Web site has undergone some changes. I've redesigned things to hype my new book,
The Many Deaths of the Firefly Brothers, which is now only a few weeks away from hitting the stores! The book will be released on January 26, 2010, so hang on to all those Amazon and Barnes and Noble gift cards you get for the holidays.
I'm incredibly psyched that the long wait is over. The hardest part of the writing process, I've found, is deciding what's the right book to write right now. After
The Last Town on Earth was published in late 2006, I dabbled with a few other book ideas that never quite gelled. I also tossed around this crazy bank robber idea, couldn't make it work, tried again, no luck, worked on something else, etc. Finally, I went back to the bank robber idea, threw in a twist, and it clicked. So as someone who's been learning (through occasionally enraging trial and error) the difference between books that work and books that don't, I'm confident in saying that this book works, and I can't wait until it's in readers' hands.
Yesterday
Publisher's Weekly gave the book a great, starred review, and I've heard from a few other critics who will be writing strong reviews, so the momentum is building. On the new site you'll find an interview with me about the book, an excerpt from the book's first chapter, a bibliography of books I researched while writing
Firefly Brothers, and the latest in book marketing: an Internet video about the book.
More soon...
(Author's Note: For a guy who has a week-old baby in the house, I'm pretty impressed with myself for being able to write complete sentences, let alone so many of them. And now, for a nap.)
